If you have read any of my previous blog posts before, you know I am a huge proponent of setting, writing, reading, and reviewing your goals on a daily basis. I truly believe that this simple process can and will have a huge impact upon your life.

Although I have used various methods in the past for writing and reviewing my goals, none of them were set up quite the way I wanted it to be. Often times I would simply use a journal or even make a homemade binder full of goals, quotes, and affirmations. This system has worked, but it is not ideal.

The lack of an ideal health and fitness goal setting/tracking journal lead to the creation of The Dreamline Journal!

The Dreamline Journal helps you break down your year long dreams and goals into quarterly, monthly (28 days), weekly, and daily goals and objectives. As much as I like to read and review my goals, sometimes it can be debilitating to look at a goal that seems so out of reach! The Dreamline Journal takes the system of writing and reviewing your goals one step further, in that it helps you plan daily and weekly tasks and steps that need to be fulfilled in order for you to reach your dreams.

For Example- 

Let’s say you have a 1 Year Dream of losing 50lbs.

That’s great! What do you need to do today, tomorrow, and the next day to make that happen? And don’t say “don’t eat!”.

My suggestion is that you break down this goal into manageable chunks.

1 Year Dream: Lose 50 lbs

Quarterly Goal (13 weeks): Lose 13 lbs

Block 1 Goals (28 days): Lose 4 lbs, exercise 12 times, and find a personal trainer

Week 1 Objectives: Lose 1 lbs, exercise 3 times, buy a water bottle, walk 50,000 steps in 7 days

Daily Paretos (Daily actions steps): Consume 20 grams of protein first thing in the morning, drink 3 glasses of water per day, use my journal two times a day

Now what seems more doable: Consuming protein in the morning? Or Losing 50lbs? Obviously those are mutually exclusive goals, but the point is that by breaking down your long term goals into daily actionable objectives, you can consistently take massive action towards your dreams!

You may have been wondering, “What in the world is a Daily Pareto?”. A Daily Pareto is a daily actionable objective that is easy to perform, sets you up for success, and has the ability to produce large results. Daily Paretos will be different for each individual, but your Pareto should be something that essentially gives you an easy win. For example, drinking a glass of water first thing in the morning. This is a habit or action that is SUPER easy for anybody to implement and it has the ability to have drastic improvements on your health! My daily Paretos are drinking water first thing in the morning, reading and reviewing my goals, taking at least 5 mindful breaths sometime during the day (committing to meditating proved to be too much to take on at first), and practicing playing music for at least 1 minute every day.

Do you need The Dreamline Journal to implement this system of goal setting? Not at all! I have been setting and reaching goals without it for awhile now. I can tell you that doing it “freestyle” is a lot more disorganized and hectic!
